October 18th is #WorldMenopauseDay, a day dedicated to raising awareness, breaking the stigma, and encouraging women to take charge of their menopause journey. This year's theme is focused on Menopause Hormone Therapy (MHT), but the conversation extends beyond treatment to include holistic approaches like lifestyle adjustments, self-care, and physical activity - which is where I can help you thrive!

The Role of Physical Activity

One of the most effective, natural ways to alleviate menopause symptoms is through regular physical activity. Exercise can:

  1. Reduce Hot Flashes: Aerobic and strength exercises can help regulate body temperature and hormone levels, reducing hot flashes.
  2. Improve Mood: Physical activity releases endorphins that boost mood, alleviate stress, and manage anxiety or depression during menopause.
  3. Strengthen Bones: Menopause can lead to lower bone density, but weight-bearing exercises like walking, dancing, and strength training help keep bones strong and prevent fractures.
  4. Promote Better Sleep: Regular exercise supports better sleep patterns, easing insomnia often linked to menopause.

Self-Care is Essential

Menopause isn't just about managing symptoms; it's about embracing self-care. Prioritise a balanced diet, practice mindfulness activities and connect with other women going through menopause. Sharing experiences can make a significant difference and remind you that you're not alone.

Create a Menopause Mission Statement

Creating a Menopause Vision Statement is a simple but powerful way to get really clear on what you want out of your menopause journey.  If you'd like to have a go at creating your own, I have included a worksheet to help you prioritise the things that are important to you and your journey through menopauseI recommend giving yourself at least 10–15 minutes to work through the worksheet, though if you’ve never done a values exercise, you may want to allow yourself some extra time to really think through your answers — do what works for you.

Whether you choose to create your own vision statement or not, Happy World Menopause Day! Let's continue the conversation, support one another, and inspire every woman to thrive through this life stage.
